My name is Juliana Castro and I’m a third-year journalism student. I was born and raised in Sacramento, but moved to San Diego for college. Because of my love for animals, nature and learning about new cultures I aspire to be a travel writer. Both of my parents were born and raised in El Salvador. Their immigration stories are full of survival, tragedy and love - and hearing those stories is what inspired me to pursue journalism in the first place.
My goal for this class is to broaden my digital journalism skills. I’d love to find visual ways to complement my writing - particularly through photography. Ultimately, I feel called to use my journalism to help be a voice for the voiceless.
